Tuition fee
The tuition fee to register and start as a student within the IMRD programme (after being deemed academicaly fit) is different for European and non-European students.
IMRD considers as European students:
2. students who are nationals from one of the EEA-EFTA states (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway)
IMRD considers as non-European students:
All other students are non-European students (also called Third Country students), including applicant students from Switzerland, Turkey and the Western Balkans region (i.e. Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo under UNSC Resolution 1244/99, FYRoM, Montenegro and Serbia).
REMARK: Please note that the qualifications for being considered European or non-European are different for students with an Erasmus Mundus scholarship.
In concreto this means that students who first applied for an EM scholarship though not were awarded such a scholarship and still decide to register as a self-sponsering student, will have to pay the tuition fee amount according to the above mentioned nationality qualifications.
Tuition Fee for Non-European students
The yearly subscription fee for 2013-2015 amounts to 8.000 EUR per year. This covers the tuition fees, and all other programme related costs, including the costs for insurance coverage and the administrative costs of the programme (registration, enrolment, subscription, administrative support, access to all faculty and university services, the organisation of the case study, the thesis defence, and other expenditures directly linked to the organisation of the course).
Some additional costs may be charged (up to a maximum of 2.000 euro) for specific transportation arrangements related to the organisation of case studies, internschips or thesis defence.
All IMRD students are expected to finance costs related to visa and preparatory documents, accommodation, additional insurances, living cost and travel costs themselves. However, all IMRD partner institutes have services for foreign students that can provide assistance in visa, accommodation, insurances and other living arrangements.
For more information on financing options for a non-European students, please consult this page.
Tuition Fee for European students
The yearly subscription fee for 2013-2015 amounts to 4.000 EUR per year, covering tuition fees, costs for insurance coverage, and the administrative costs of the programme.
Some additional costs may be charged (up to a maximum of 2.000 euro) for specific transportation arrangements related to the organisation of case studies, internschips or thesis defence.
Students are expected to finance their accomodation, living and travel costs themselves. The different partner institutes have services for assistance in finding accomodation and other living arrangements.
Note: IMRD students with financial difficulties can request a reduction of the subscription fee, provided that the yearly actual income of the applicant is less than € 15.000,00 per year. The application form for this reduction can be obtained from the central IMRD secretariat (declaration of honour + sufficient financial attestation are required) after the student has obtained academic admission to the programme.
Total estimated cost for self-sponsoring students
The estimated total cost for students planning to study the IMRD programme with their own financial means could be estimated as follows:
-
Subscription fees: 8.000 EUR per year for non European students, 4.000 EUR per year for European students (situation 2013-2015)
-
Minimum living expenses: 750 EUR per month on average
Some additional costs may be charged (up to a maximum of 2.000 euro) for specific transportation arrangements related to the organisation of case studies, internschips or thesis defence.
All travel costs from the country of origin to Europe and the costs related to the mobility inside Europe are not included in this estimation.
